DKB extends sponsorship and remains innovation partner of the Handball Bundesliga until 2027

DKB will expand its ongoing commitment to German handball and extend its partnerships with the Handball-Bundesliga GmbH and the German Handball Federation (DHB) until 2027 - the year that Germany will host the IHF World Men’s Handball Championship. The partnership between the DKB and the Handball-Bundesliga GmbH (HBL), which has been in effect since 2012, will run until 30 June 2027.

As a driver of innovation in handball using fan and media-related performance data, the DKB will continue to support and develop the “Handball Performance Index” (HPI) as part of its partnership with the HBL. The introduction and continued development of the HPI has seen the HBL GmbH and HBL clubs achieve significant increases in reach and fan interaction on and between match days, among others, through photo and video formats on the HBL's wide-reach media channels. These include the established DKB Player of the Month voted for by the fans, the Most Valuable Player of the season (DKB MVP) chosen by the fans at the end of the season and the “Bankgeflüster” (Bench Whispers) TikTok and Instagram formats.

The DKB will also continue to support inclusion in the HBL with audio descriptions and present itself through classic advertising media. This means the acoustic description of images in the event by trained reporters for the blind and visually impaired. Both via audio track on web radio and often live on site. This will allow this target group to fully experience the game.

The goal netting banners with the DKB logo will continue to be visible in the arenas of all the first division clubs, both for the fans in the arenas and those watching on screens at home. The DKB will also be present at the Handball Super Cup and the DHB Cup’s REWE Final4. In addition to its sponsorship of the HBL and DHB, the DKB also sponsors several handball clubs in Germany, among them the HBL clubs SC DHfK Leipzig, Füchse Berlin and SC Magdeburg.

DKB CEO Stefan Unterlandstättner: “We are very pleased to be continuing our sponsorship and long-standing partnership with the German Handball Federation and are especially pleased to now also welcome the women’s national handball team to our portfolio. We feel that handball embodies important values such as team spirit, passion and fair play, all of which go hand in hand with our corporate philosophy. We are very proud to be part of this special sports family and look forward to a bright future together!”

HBL Managing Director Frank Bohmann on continuing the partnership: “Deutsche Kreditbank is a very reliable partner that has been challenging and supporting us with an innovative and sustainable approach for 12 years now. By using media and fan-related performance data, we have been able to work together to develop our wide-reach digital channels and tap into marketing potentials through innovative digital formats. We are highly please by the fact that our partner has decided to extend their sponsorship of German handball until 2027, the year that Germany will host the Handball World Cup in Germany, and is increasingly also incorporating sustainability aspects.”

The DKB also supports the women's national handball team as an advertising partner on the jersey sleeves. In addition to other logo placements on LED boards around the arenas, the DKB will also use its social media commitment, which has already been successfully established in men's handball, as part of the expanded commitment These include innovative data-based formats and the popular TikTok and Instagram series “Bankgeflüster” (Bench Whispers). Also new as part of the offer: Matches of the women's national handball team will now be offered with audio description.
