LIQUI MOLY HBL publishes match schedule for the 2022/23 season - match days 1 to 7 already scheduled

On Friday, 15 July 2022, Handball-Bundesliga GmbH announced the LIQUI MOLY HBL match schedule for the 2022/23 season. The other fixtures will be announced in the coming weeks, taking into account the European club competitions, for which six German clubs have qualified, and in consultation with the TV partners.

The 56th Bundesliga season will be officially opened on 31 August in Düsseldorf's PSD BANK DOME with the duel between champions SC Magdeburg and cup winners THW Kiel. Only one day later, four matches of the 1st matchday of the new season are on the schedule. Among others, HSV Hamburg receives SG Flensburg-Handewitt for the "small" North derby.

Champion SC Magdeburg will face the two promoted teams at the start of the season. On 4 September 2022, SCM will host ASV Hamm-Westfalen, and on matchday 2, the defending champions will play VfL Gummersbach. Runner-up THW Kiel will start at home against TVB Stuttgart.

The direct duel between champions Magdeburg and runners-up Kiel will take place on matchday 13 at Magdeburg's GETEC Arena. The top match of the LIQUI MOLY HBL can be seen on Sky and ARD Sportschau on Saturday, 19 November 2022.

The equally exciting traditional northern derby between the SG Flensburg-Handewitt and THW Kiel has been scheduled for matchday 17 at the end of the first half of the season. In the second half of the season, the two northern German top teams will meet on matchday 27.

The last matchday is scheduled for 11 June 2023. This season, media partner Sky will once again be showing all 306 LIQUI MOLY HBL matches live as a pay service, as well as individual matches free-to-air on the digital platforms. Up to twelve selected games will also be shown on free TV on ARD and the third channels, including two games of the DHB Cup Final tournament, the date of which has also been fixed.
